Girl Talk

Within the last 36 hours I’ve been to 3 separate events that were (with the exception of 3 men) women only — two different women’s professional networking groups, and a discussion group at my favorite bookstore, the Present Moment.
I don’t think I can do justice to describing how uplifted I feel after these 3 meetings. There is something different about attending women-only events that leaves me with a sense of connectedness that I rarely feel at co-ed networking events. I think that without the guys around, women more easily and naturally drop the barriers and enjoy each other. (Sorry guys. You can go hang at the golf course, or whatever it is you do…).
I have laughed and smiled so much at these 3 events, and I feel like I’m walking in the clouds, pumped up with energy I really needed.
At the North Shore Professional Womens Association meeting last night, we did a fun ice-breaker — telling 2 truths & 1 lie about yourself, and then guessing what each person’s lie is. You learn such fun, fantastic stuff about each other. One lady really was a model in Japan, where a short blonde is suddenly a TALL blonde model! Another served in the Israeli Army and has a photo of herself in uniform. Another had a summer-job in high school as the pink Power Ranger. What a hoot!
At today’s Lake County Chamber of Commerce women’s luncheon, I ran into 3 other people I already knew, one other who knows two of my Vision 2020 compatriots, and got to hear my friend Faith Curtis speak to the group about nurturing self-love. She is one inspiring lady!! To make things even better, I’d gone there to promote Vision 2020 as a great seminar for those interested in starting or building their own business, and one woman immediately said she wanted to talk to me afterwards because she is sick of the corporate life, and is venturing out on her own! It felt great to know that I was able to “give” her what she’s looking for!
And then at The Present Moment tonight, well, the discussion circle on the 2nd Thursday of each month is my spiritual “booster-shot” to get me back on track and feeling great. Once again, led by Faith Curtis.
To all the wonderful ladies I’ve connected with these past 36 hours, THANK YOU!
